Editorial Standards & Transparency

ManClub is an independent publication covering health and life for men in their forties through eighties. We believe readers should be able to verify the work behind every claim. This page outlines our rigorous process for research, verification, and clinical review.

1. Our Source Standards

Every article on ManClub begins with primary source data. We prioritize the following high-authority sources:

  • Science and Medicine: Peer-reviewed journals including PubMed, NEJM (The New England Journal of Medicine), JAMA, The Lancet, and Nature. We read original abstracts and methods; we do not rely on secondhand summaries.
  • Government & Institutional Data: Public datasets from the CDC, NIH, FDA, BLS, Federal Reserve, SSA, and OECD. We link to original datasets whenever possible for direct verification.
  • Evidence-Based Reporting: Global outlets like Reuters and The New York Times are used for social context, but never as the sole foundation for clinical or financial claims.

2. The Editorial & Clinical Review Process

To ensure accuracy and reliability, every piece of content moves through a 6-stage verification pipeline:

  1. Evidence Assessment: Can the topic be supported by high-quality, verifiable data?
  2. Primary Research: Gathering original studies and examining opposing scientific views.
  3. Fact-Matching: Mapping every claim line-by-line against its supporting primary source.
  4. Internal Audit: Re-checking every figure, date, and quotation for technical accuracy.
  5. Medical Review: Health and clinical articles are reviewed by Eleanor Hayes, M.D., a board-certified hospitalist. Her clinical insights are integrated directly into the “Reviewer’s Note” sections.
  6. Continuous Updates: Articles are reviewed periodically to reflect new scientific findings or policy changes.

3. Responsible Use of AI

ManClub uses AI as a research assistant, not an author. AI tools support data organization, report summarization, and cross-linguistic translation. A human editor always performs the following critical tasks:

  • Verification of every fact and citation against original sources.
  • Judgement of source credibility and clinical relevance.
  • Final creative writing, editorial approval, and publication.
  • Note: Illustrations on ManClub are produced with AI assistance to provide visual context.

4. Professional Ethics & Disclosures

Not Professional Advice: ManClub provides educational information, not a substitute for personal professional advice. The editor is not a physician, financial advisor, or attorney.

Articles reviewed by Eleanor Hayes, M.D. are assessed for general accuracy and do not constitute a personal provider-patient relationship.

Interactive Tools & Calculators: Any calculators, tools, or interactive features provided on ManClub are intended solely for educational and illustrative purposes. The outputs generated by these tools are estimates, do not guarantee actual results, and should not be used as a substitute for professional financial, medical, or legal advice.

5. Corrections and Accountability

Transparency is our standard. When an error is identified, we correct the article immediately and provide a transparent “Update Note” at the top of the page explaining the change. We invite readers to flag concerns or suggest better sources at [email protected].
